Delta 8 Denton, federally legal hemp, curated for Denton.
Hey y’all! It’s time to answer some questions about making the switch from smoking to eating your sweet, sweet federally legal hemp, and to highlight our specially curated selection of edibles. We love big fat clouds as much as the next stoner, but sometimes you have to make lemonade out of lemons, and you might just find your new favorite buzz! 🐝
Here at Delta 8 Denton we’re committed to bringing you high-quality experiences. Whether you’re looking for a sigh of relief after a hard day or you’re chasing a creative, giggly rush, we’ve got you. Understandably, a lot of you may have some questions, or have hit a few speed bumps on the road to loving edibles. So we’d like to share some of the benefits of edible (and drinkable!) hemp, and offer some solutions for anyone whose past edible experiences left them unsatisfied.
Why don’t edibles work for me?
Usually the reason edibles don’t work for one person or another is tough to pinpoint. But here are some common culprits that may be keeping you from feeling toasty, along with solutions!
You took an edible on an empty stomach… or a very full one
There’s a sweet spot with edibles, and for some folks it’s more important to hit it accurately. Cannabinoids are fat-soluble, so taking an edible with a little dietary fat can help your body absorb it more consistently. That’s why a totally empty stomach sometimes gives you an uneven or underwhelming buzz.
The other end of the spectrum can be true too. Eating an edible on a very full stomach means your body has a lot to process at once, and for users with high tolerances or less-sensitive endocannabinoid receptors, that can delay or dull the effect.
Try eating your edible with a small, fatty snack. Not a whole meal, just enough for the Delta 9 to bind to. Some great options:
- Chips and guacamole
- Ice cream
- Cheese and crackers
- Hummus with pita
- A spoonful of peanut butter
As long as the snack isn’t too filling and has a good amount of fat, it could give your edible the boost it needs to get you feeling elevated.
Your edible doesn’t have CBD, CBG, or CBN
There’s this neat idea called the “entourage effect,” where many people find the body uses THC more effectively when it’s taken alongside other cannabinoids like CBD. Sometimes a THC-only edible doesn’t land for you because your particular system does better with CBD, CBG, or CBN helping it along. This is where full-spectrum products shine. As a bonus, that same balance can help users who tend to get too buzzed (more on that later).
A few full-spectrum, in-stock options to try:
- Munchies Cereal Crunchies: a balanced 1:1 of Delta-9 THC and CBD
- Texakana Delta 9 THC + CBD Chocolate Bar: 1:1 THC:CBD, scored for easy dosing
- Hometown Hero Cocoa Crisp Cereal Bites: 20mg Delta-9 THC + 20mg CBD per piece, individually wrapped
You’re a slow metabolizer
A real buzz kill — literally. Proving this is the cause would take a cheek swab and a pricey genetics test, so the next best move is to experiment with alternative forms of consumption. Such as…
Drops and sublinguals
One way to work around slow digestive metabolism is to let the cannabinoids absorb through the soft tissue under your tongue instead of going through your stomach. Take your suggested dose with the included dropper and hold it under your tongue. While you’re getting used to it you can swallow after about 30 seconds (best chased with a good-tasting beverage), but for the best results, work your way up to holding it for a full two minutes. That soft tissue gives cannabinoids an expressway to your system.
Our current sublingual picks are the Redeemer full-spectrum drops, a clean, two-ingredient base of hemp extract and organic MCT oil:
- Redeemer 300mg CBD Drops: 10mg CBD per serving, solventless, from a fifth-generation Colorado family farm
- Redeemer 300mg CBG Drops: daytime-friendly calm without the grogginess
Heads up: these Redeemer drops are CBD and CBG (non-intoxicating), so they’re great for the entourage effect, for leveling out an over-the-top buzz, and for easing into sublinguals. If you’re specifically after a high-THC sublingual or RSO, ask our staff what’s on the shelf that day, since that stock rotates.
Your tolerance is suuuuuper high
Yep, sometimes the answer is just an endocannabinoid system built like a grizzly bear. Your body is so good at absorbing and processing cannabinoids that a disappointing night is born.
The obvious move is a higher dose, but for some folks even that doesn’t do it. In that case, and I hate to say it, it may be time for the dreaded T-break. Give your endocannabinoid receptors a rest for anywhere from one week to two months, and you may save yourself some disappointment the next time you reach for a magic brownie.
High-tolerance tokers also tend to have better luck drinking their hemp rather than eating it. Drinkables are processed more like inhalation, so your body may respond to them differently than a traditional edible. Speaking of which…
Edibles take too long, and smoking gets me there right away
And/or: edibles just don’t feel as good as inhaling smoke or vapor.
Both of these can be helped by the two solutions below. I’d call it a two-for-one special, but… it isn’t. It’s not, and I don’t know how to segue-
You haven’t tried nano-infused gummies or infused drinkables
Nano-emulsified Delta 9 THC shows up in gummies that advertise being fast-acting or rapid-onset, as well as in hemp drinkables. Nano-emulsification makes the Delta 9 far easier for your body to absorb, giving you a buzz that hits fast and hard.
A couple of fan favorites in stock right now:
- Hometown Hero Double Take Live Rosin Gummies: a split gummy with fast-acting nano THC on one half (about a 15-minute onset) and traditional THC on the other for longer-lasting effects. Take it whole for the best of both, or split it to customize.
- Habit D9 Micro Moods Soft Gels: fast-acting capsules in Focus, Chill, and Sleep
Drink your hemp!
Our drinkables are made with water-soluble nano Delta 9, and they’re processed by the body in a way that’s very similar to inhalation. The result is a buzz that feels a lot closer to the one you get from smoking. Drinkables are a great option for even the most skeptical toker and come in a wide range of dosages, whether you’re a brick wall of tolerance or on the sensitive side. A few in stock:
- Cucumber Lime Ganjito, Mango Limonada Cannatail, and Strawberry Watermelon Dankquiri: nano-infused, 25mg Delta 9 per can
- Habit D9 Shots (100mg): potent, discreet, and portable
- Uncle Skunks D9 Craft Soda (100mg): for the higher-tolerance crowd
Edibles hit me way too hard!
Listen, dear stoner, we’ve all visited the shadow realm once or twice (or five times, no judgment). But that doesn’t mean you can’t find the right consumable for you. Here are a couple of quick tips for a much less stressful experience, no manual breathing required. And don’t worry: we didn’t give you the “forever weed*,” and nobody’s mad at you right now.

Microdosing
Taking a smaller dose sounds like a “no duh” solution, but starting small (we’re talking teeny-tiny) can be a much better way to get your endocannabinoid system used to the buzz that consumables provide.
If you’ve gotten too much of a good thing pretty consistently, get strict with your starting dose: as little as 2.5mg of Delta 9. Cutting gummies into pieces, or pouring a smaller measure of a drinkable into a shot glass, may be exactly what you need to feel toasty without getting burnt.
And, as always, wait before you take more. Especially with a slower metabolism, edibles can take as long as 2 to 3 hours to fully hit. So be patient! (Unless you took our earlier advice and went nano, in which case your mileage may vary.)
Great low-and-slow options to start with (all in stock):
- Habit Delta 9 Live Rosin Gummies (5mg): 20 gummies at a gentle 5mg each
- Redeemer Blood Orange THC + CBG Gummies: a balanced 1:1 microdose at 5mg Delta-9 + 5mg CBG per piece
- Chronic Harvest Teas & Lemonades (5mg): an easy-sipping 5mg drinkable
You need the CBs along with the THC
A growing number of products (even smokables) chase THCa/Delta 9 potency and leave behind the soothing, balancing effects of CBD, CBG, and CBN. That can tip you toward an anxious, paranoid buzz instead of an enjoyable one.
If a product you have (or want to try) is Delta-9-only, pair it with a CBD tincture or gummy. The CBs help level out the elevating effects of Delta 9. Just be warned: CBD also makes the body more receptive to THC, so a slightly smaller dose is usually the smart move your first time trying this trick.
Good pairing options in stock:
- Redeemer 300mg CBD Drops: easy to dial in drop by drop
- Redeemer Watermelon CBD Gummies: 15mg full-spectrum CBD each
- Modern Herb Co Live CBD Gummies: 10mg full-spectrum CBD each
